South Africa : 2010 FIFA World Cup

fifasouthafricaThe 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee South Africa (Association Incorporated Under Section 21) (“OC”) is governed by section 21 of the Companies Act, 61 of 1973. The OC was incorporated on 29 August 2005 as an independent non-profit section 21 company charged with the responsibility of organising the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. The mission statement: “The 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa TM presents the ideal stage to rally and mobilise the people of South Africa to organise an African FIFA world cup with precision, innovation and flair; to extend an unforgettable South African welcome to the world; to collaborate with all stakeholders in a dynamic partnership based on integrity and excellence.”

The OC has recently launched the ONLINE SUPPLIER REGISTRATION.

UKRAINIAN RAILWAYS ROLLING STOCK RENEWAL PROJECT

GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE

Ukrzaliznytsia (“UZ”) has applied for financing to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (“EBRD”) and the European Investment Bank (“EIB”) and intends using the proceeds for a project to acquire general purpose freight wagons. The proposed project, which has a total estimated cost of 147,000,000 US$ equivalent, will require the procurement of the following goods:

* general purpose freight wagons.

Tendering for the above contracts is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2009.

Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of the project will be subject to the Bank’s Procurement Policies and Rules and will be open to firms from any country. The proceeds of the Bank’s loan will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, of for any import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations or under a law of official regulation of the Purchaser’s country.

KAZAN MUNICIPAL WATER AND WASTEWATER LOAN

Kazan Municipal Unitary Enterprise “Vodokanal” (the “Vodocanal”), the municipal water utility owned by the City of Kazan (the “City”), capital of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, has signed a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the “Bank”) and intends using the proceeds of the loan for a project to improve the sustainability of water and wastewater infrastructure and services in the City. Total estimated project cost is RUR 350 million, will require the procurement of the following goods, works and services:

  • Rehabilitation and of the Main Wastewater Treatment Plant to enhance its operational efficiency and to improve sludge dewatering
  • Rehabilitation of Iskohz Wastewater Pumping Station
  • Construction of new networks in a new housing area

Tendering for the above contracts is expected to begin in the 4th quarter of 2008.

Croatia: Rijeka Gateway Project ii

GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE:
The Republic of Croatia has received financing in the amount of eighty-four million EURO 84,000,000 equivalent from the World Bank toward the cost of the Rijeka Gateway Project II, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under this project.
The Second Rijeka Gateway Project for Croatia development objective is to develop the capacity, financial performance, and quality of services in the port of Rijeka to meet growing traffic demand, through public-private partnerships, while facilitating urban renewal by enabling the relocation of port activities. There are three components to the project. The first component of the project is port terminal development.

This component includes the extension of the existing Brajdica container terminal by about 330 meters; and construction of infrastructure for a 400 meter long Zagreb container terminal. The second component of the project is port service enhancement. This component includes support in concessioning of selected terminals, equipment and technical services for information flow integration and secured port access, enhanced environmental response, and technical studies to prepare for the Master Plan implementation.

The third and final component of the project is project implementation. This component includes the supervision of civil works activities, audit services for the project and support in procurement and project management.
