Adhunik Corporation is planning to set up a 50,000 TPA ferro alloys manufacturing facility in Raghunathpur of WB. The plant is being developed as a part of the Rs.8,000 crores integrated steel plant. This project inclusive of other component projects will be completed in 48 months from the date of commencement of work. As of March 2009, the land acquisition is in progress.

Larsen & Toubro plans to set up a greenfield alumina complex (3 million TPA) at Kusumsilla in Rayagada district of Orissa. The project will be implemented in JV with Dubai Aluminium Company for alumina refinery and aluminium in 2 phases. The phase-I will have a capacity of 1.4 million TPA alumina and is slated for completion by 2014 after which phase-II work will begin for producing 1.6 million TPA alumina & aluminium and is expected to be completed by 2017. As of March 2009, the statutory clearances are awaited.

Marvelore Mining & Allied Industries is to set up a calcined bauxite production unit (200 TPD) at Kuranga in Jamnagar district of Gujarat. The unit includes a 500 TPD high alumina cement and a 15 TPD high strength proppant. The project is to be implemented with a cumulative investment of Rs.750 million funded through banks & internal accruals. As of March 2009, the company is awaiting clearances and equipment suppliers have been appointed. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2010.

Aravali Minerals & Chemical Industries is planning to expand its soapstone mine at Piprach in Udaipur district of Rajasthan. The mining capacity will be increased from 1,664 TPA to 22,800 TPA for production of soapstone and talcose. The project is to be implemented at a cost of Rs.100 million. As of March 2009, the expansion proposal has received the approval and work on the project will begin shortly.
