Dharani Sugar & Chemicals a part of the PGP Group has reported progress on the sugar mill (3500 TCD) at Kalayanallur in Villupuram district of TN. The project is being implemented at cost of Rs.3,500 million to Rs.4,000 million and it includes a distillery for production of alcohol & budgetary allocation for environment management. As of February 2009, erection of machineries is in progress. The project is expected to be completed by June 2009.

Vasantdada Patil Co-op Sugar Factory is expanding and modernising at its Kalwan sugar mill in Nashik district of Maharashtra. The sugarcane crushing capacity will be increased from 2500 TCD to 3,500 TCD at a cost of Rs.70 million. As of March 2009, the company recently floated tenders to appoint contractors for modernization. The expansion is expected to be completed by 2010.
